Conventional Heaters vs. Far Infrared Heaters

A far infrared heater, operates differently from a conventional space heater.  Infrared waves are a shorter wavelength and travel faster and are more penetrating, therefore an infrared heater can heat a larger area faster, more evenly and the room retains that heat longer than if heated with a conventional heater.  Conventional space heaters heat the air within the room which in turn heats the objects and people in the room which is less efficient than infrared radiant heat that penetrates directly.  The hot dry air tends to rise and dissipates out poorly insulated areas, cracks and windows faster since the heat is not as readily absorbed.  This type of heat by it's nature has to be hotter in order for a person to feel as heated as with an infrared heater running at a lower temperature.  This makes conventional heat not only less efficient and effective but very drying to the air which in turn dries out the membranes of the respiratory passages and the skin causing irritation.   A heater running at combustible temperatures also lowers the oxygen content of the air thus further compromising air quality.
