Dr. Cory Hewko- D.C. , B.Sc

Dr. Cory Hewko is a licensed Chiropractor in British Columbia, Canada. He is a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic West in San Jose, CA where he received his training after attending the University of Alberta studying Kinesiology. He was an active member on the executive board for the Palmer West Sports Council where he helped promote Chiropractic in various sporting events around the Bay area in California. He was also fortunate enough to treat athletes at the 2005 Kona Ironman World Championships using ART (Active Release Techniques) to treat the athletes soft tissue injuries during the week prior to the race.

ART is ahighly specific technique dealing with fibrotic tissue adhesions that cause pain and restricts normal motion between soft tissue structures. Adhesions can develop between and within muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, rotator cuff tears, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, frozen shoulder, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved with ART. Active Release Techniques release the adhesions helping to restore normal movement between the soft tissue structures, thereby reducing or eliminating the symptoms in the vast majority of cases.

Dr. Hewko moved to Vernon in 2008 with his wife, Chantal, to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle and warm weather that Vernon has to offer. He set up a practice shortly after, Hewko Chiropractic, where he treats conditions of the spine and soft tissue through adjustments and ART. He also works hand in hand with Far North Wellness and has a one of the "HYBRID" massage beds in his clinic.

Dr. Hewko has been involved with many sports as both an athlete and a practitioner. His passions are mainly hockey and golf but he also enjoys wakeboarding, snowboarding, biking, hiking, and tennis. He has both coached hockey and been an athletic trainer in Sherwood Park, Alberta where he grew up.
